The Art of Listening
<by Ray Yanb>
How many times we face a situation at work or home in that situation, we feel that communication is hard and such a communication blocker. Mostly, we fall in a circle of frustration and bumbuzzle whether and I can handle the outcome of that and so on. Well, we must realize that the art of listening can save us from reaching and examining our patience. I am going to discuss few ways to improve your listening skills.
1- Wear the hat of the person is talking
This simulation always work and make it easier for us to listen. Put yourself in the talker's position. They way he dress and look, what massage he is trying to deliver. What are circumstances associated with the message.
2- Interrupting the Sent Message
It is very important to interrupt the message of the talker. What this conversation is about and why, etc. Always try to make it a winning situation because when you listen you get information from the talker. Try to grab the opportunities to rite it down after the conversation because it might help later and you can go one level up by analyzing that later on.
3- Analyzing the outcome
It is good thing to draw different scenarios to help you to come up with the result of conversation. So you can come up with later decision. Sometimes, you need to let someone who you trust to share the analysis with.
4- Take the action
Taking action after what you analyzed. Start with planning how you will take the action and how to show it to the talker sometime later. It depends on the situation if it was urgent or not.
5- Learn from Past Mistakes
The learning curve has no stop as we always learn from past lessons and mistakes we made. Try not to repeat the wrong decision or action you done.
